Lily returned to the Schoolhouse as a quartet and her set list could not have been more different than her last visit with Billie Holliday tunes. Her new album Veridian Torch consists of dramatic compositions that utilize a vast array of instruments that included Cello, Recordings, Violin, Keyboards, A child's toy and a Theremin (sp?). JW, Jeff and Martin stepped up on stage and powered through two sets that clearly showcased JW's Guitar over a rock solid back line. As the numbers were delivered, it became clear that JW could morph styles and volume with ease. In a nutshell, the solos were edgy and diverse and real impressive.

As things moved , a second undenaible fact became perfectly clear; the boys had game. Whether it was Martin and JW playing the same guitar, or JW and Jeff playing back and forth with punctuating snare shots, the result was a frenzy.  Read more »

Immediately after a Sunday evening Munkeyjunk show, Alex Cuba stepped into the schoolhouse to do a sound check. On arrival, one thing was clear; he oozes cool. Thursday evening and Sunday afternoon witnessed the combination of Ottawa Blues juggernauts Monkeyjunk and the seasoned and flamboyant performance of New Orleans Bluesman Andy J Forest. With the highest of expectations buzzing around the community (Sunday sold out 2 months in advance), the pairing did no less than come in and blow them away.  Read more »

Michael Bate brought the theatrical concert 'Grievous Angel' to the SchoolHouse Stage. It was a huge hit. It was a special evening with a sold out show and with some of the casts family and friends in the audience; they did not disappoint.

Anders Drerup plays a very believable Gram Parsons and is clearly a talented musician, actor and energetic performer. One gets the impression he could morph into whatever genre he wanted to. Kelly Prescott has an absolutely beautiful voice and does Emmy Lou Harris proud.  Read more »
