Gram Parsons Live? Grievous Angel's Worthy of the Press
Michael Bate brought the theatrical concert 'Grievous Angel' to the SchoolHouse Stage. It was a huge hit. It was a special evening with a sold out show and with some of the casts family and friends in the audience; they did not disappoint.
Anders Drerup plays a very believable Gram Parsons and is clearly a talented musician, actor and energetic performer. One gets the impression he could morph into whatever genre he wanted to. Kelly Prescott has an absolutely beautiful voice and does Emmy Lou Harris proud.
The two leads and the band; Darwin Demers, Chris Breitner, Al Bragg, Tom Martel, John Steele had the audience entranced for the entire time. The show worked well in the confines of the small space and felt a little as though it could have been an intimate Gram Parsons gig early on.
I new as soon as it was sung that 'In My Hour of Darkness' would stick with me. Happily it did. For 4 days I caught myself singing and feeling the song. Incredible.
