Mr Something Something was Electrifying in the schoolhouse

They marched through the building up onto the stage as an intro, then they stepped it up. For more than 2 hours, the band sustained a level of energy that was hard to believe.

The music was fantastic, from the percussion of Larry Graves out; incredibly intricate beats and layer upon layer of sound. Over it all Johan bobbed, weaved, juked, jived and spun with an intensity that almost seemed reckless on such a small stage, at one point John MacLean paused from his sax duties and lent a hand to keep Johan from meeting the drums up close and personal.

For those that liked to dance, we removed the tables and chairs from half the floor; it was put to good use. What was equally as impressive as the intensity on the stage was how the band could stop and hit a few emphatic notes in perfect unison before going there own melodic ways again. The crowd was asked to participate more than once and was game every time.

A highlight was perhaps the world premiere of 'No.7'. We've not had a band like this yet and it was a treat to see so many accomplished musicians.

We'll look for Mr Something Something again in the new year. For the record, Mr Something Something was Johan Hultqvist, John MacLean, Larry Graves, Paul MacDougall, Liam Smith and Phil Skladowski.

Great Night,
Adam
