Silver Creek Belts Them Out
It was a crowded house and Silver Creek belted out originals sprinkled with covers for two long sets and a great 3 song encore. A well deserved standing ovation ended the evening.
Shawn, Anders, Jeffrey took turns on vocals moving each song miles from the previous one in style. Shawn's vocals could be said to range from Chris Robinson (The Black Crowes), to Neil Young, but with a potency that is his own. Anders voice is smooth, clear and pure invoking Gram Parsons; a role he plays in the theatrical performance Grievous Angel. Jeffrey can hit the high notes and has the kind of vocal ability and emotion that can do Joe Cocker justice (as he did in this show). With vocal options like this, it's no surprise that the set list moved from straight up country, to funk, to 70s rock, to folk with ease.
Anders guitar was fantastic, technically sound, delivered in a subdued contemplative way; setting up the song. Jeffrey's keyboards had a real different feel; A 'watch this' delivery that was entertaining and energized.
On top of the dynamic and broad performance, they were tight; a testament to the back line of Mark and Tony.
The highlights of the evening? Tough to say. Several times Shawn had us singing backup vocals as he wailed over that audience track. Hard to imagine the cover of 'With a Little Help From My Friends', the Joe Cocker version. That was the sort of good that leaves you in dumbfounded awe throughout the song.
Great show guys.
