There's Just no Junk Quite Like Monkey Junk

The effect of a Friday and Saturday night's worth of Monkey Junk resonates still.  It was one of those 'glad I was there for that one' shows.  Steve Marriner, Tony D and Matt Sobb put on two live shows that would be the envy of any band.

Steve Marriner's harp and Tony's guitar had jaws dropping.  Have you ever seen a soft solo contest?  I have now.  Steve played a harp solo so softly it shouldn't have been heard.  But it was.  Tony followed with a solo that seemingly had the volume at 0, and the audience was treated to the unique sound of an unamped electric guitar solo.  On Saturday that second solo transitioned to Steve and Tony jamming volumeless; it was already one of the most spontaneously wonderful things to be witnessed when an audience member heckled 'Turn it down man!'.  Marvelous.

There was more; a wine glass was pilferred from a front row table to help apply effect to still another harp solo before it was returned.  Not to be outdone, Tony asked politely if he might borrow the glass for a moment and used it as a slide for his solo.  The whole of the evenings were chalk full of these sorts of moments and they all worked.

There was talk about a return and we really can't wait; as someone mentioned on the way out we heard 'When are they coming back, that was one of THE best live shows I've ever seen'
