The 2009 Farmer's Market; July 3rd and 4th

The Burnstown Farmer's Market is on again in 2009.  We are ready to go and the tents will be up with a good offering of very local food.  A full list of offerings is expected soon, with a method for ordering ahead.

The hours will be Friday's at 4pm - 8pm and Saturday morning 8am - noon.  We hope to see you there.

A little bit of magic with Jenn Grant

It was a nice Monday night in the valley and Jenn Grant, Kinley, Dave and Dan visited Burnstown.   The show was an absolute delight.  Jenn's voice was beautiful.  The violin mixed with the deep tones of the bass clarinet to create an almost chamber music feel in the room. The occasional use of the glockenspiels was great live.

Brothers Chaffey on a Saturday Night at the Schoolhouse

Down to earth and hard working, Curtis and Matthew Chaffey along with Nick, Dave heated up the schoolhouse with two rock solid sets and a couple of encores. 

The base line and drums were well taken care of allowing Curtis to deliver solo after solo on guitar and Matthew to belt out the tunes with a confidence and stage comfort at the mic that was striking.

Al Woods and the Woodsmen had the place rockin', singin' and dancin'.

It was a great night to be in the schoolhouse. Al Wood and the Woodsmen put on a show that featured their own material mixed with some great classic blues covers.

For much of the evening the audience gamely sang along, danced in and out of their seats and shouted. The band was clearly enjoying themselves. So much so that they had to be reminded to take a break!  Read more »

The Proclaimers are coming. Really.

It's a real treat to announce that The Proclaimers will be playing the old schoolhouse in Burnstown on July 5th. Craig and Charlie Reid are two impassioned brothers singing their hearts out in their own accents.  The accent acquired in their formative years in Edinburgh, Cornwall and Auchtermuchty in Fife.
